This Side of Impossible

We love miracles but we struggle when a miracle seems impossible.

Think of how many times God’s people were on this side of impossible.

Marching for days around Jericho expecting a little noise would bring down the walls.

Egypt’s forces behind us and the Red Sea in front of us, wishing we never left slavery to begin with.

You were named King but the first King wants you dead and has the means to destroy you.

You thought Jesus was the answer but now he is silent as the grave.

This side of impossible is a tough place to stand. While on this side of impossible, the things that once bothered you and motivated you to act on faith now don’t seem so bad and you wish you would never left the place that gave rise to a faith that God wanted to do something more.

So you wrestle with fear, doubt, anxiety, bitterness and a host of other emotions because you were certain God called you to act but you start to wonder if you made a mistake.

Hang on my friend! Why?

Because if you march a 7th day, the walls can fall.

If you step in the water, it can part.

If you persevere, God can establish you.

If you visit the grave, you will find it empty.

Then, you will find yourself on the other side of impossible, forever changed by the One who specializes in making the impossible, possible. You will find yourself being healed by the Healer. You will find the Source of Hope restoring your ability to hope again.

I wish I could say this side of impossible is easy or will end tomorrow. What I can say is that God is working powerfully in your life right now on this side of impossible. At the right time, the impossible will become possible. Oh, how I wish that moment was now. Oh, how I wish I could promise it will happen tomorrow. I can promise that your Father in Heaven can be trusted for however long He takes to walk you through because His love for you is mind-blowing.

When on this side of impossible, keep trusting in His formative plan. When on the other side of impossible, keep trusting and remember the One who brought you through the impossible.
