There was a time at the launch of the Church when followers of Jesus were arrested, beaten, fired from their jobs and even killed. Their reaction…they were overjoyed to be counted worthy to suffer in the name of Jesus.
You have heard it all…Christians aren’t perfect, just forgiven; church is for sinners, not perfect people; if you leave a church because of people, you went for the wrong reason. Could it be that these excuses for poor, if not outright evil, behavior is part of the reason folks don’t want anything to do with the church?
The Bible is filled with stories that begin with painful adversity but end up demonstrating how God repositions His people to advance His Kingdom.
I have looked in the eyes of pastors. I see a lot of tired people. I see a lot of pain. The unrelenting pressures of ministry weigh you down with such a weight that you literally can no longer stand upright.
Looking back on our move to Florida to start a MicroChurch is beginning to make me realize how crazy we must have seemed.
